Soy doesn't taste bad. In fact, it has no flavor. That's actually a good thing since you can make it taste however you want. It's so versatile that way. I'm not a vegetarian, but I try to add soy to my diet when I can. I love soy milk, to me it tastes better than real milk (although I don't like the Silk brand for some reason). I made a pumpkin pie with silken tofu and it tastes great! Even my boyfriend liked it!
I am not aware of any reports stating that soy is unhealthy...everything I have read says the opposite. It contains much less saturated fat than other protein sources.

I am trying to find an answer to this question as well... Some sources say that too much soy raises estrogen and it can actually make you gain weight if you consume too much... I've also read that growing teenage girls should not eat a large amount of soy products...
Personally, I like to drink a small glass of soy milk before dinner. I think it actually helps me to eat less... but I don't take in more than that.

While our government continues to deny that soy is a cause of endocrine problems, a report from the Institute of Endocrinology in the Czeck Republic correlates markers of thyroid disease with soy phytoestrogen levels. High levels of soy isoflavones in the blood of 268 children without overt thyroid disease correlated with high levels of thyroglobulin autoantibodies and small thyroid gland size. While "only modest association was found between actual phytoestrogen levels and parameters of thyroid function," the researchers warned that "even small differences in soy phytoestrogen intake may influence thyroid function," ending with the disclaimer, "which could be important when iodine intake is insuffiecient" (Clin Chem Lab Med. 2006;44(2):171-4). Another recent report found that "Soy formula complicated management of congenital hypothroidism." Infants fed soy formula were found to have prolonged increase of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) compared to infants fed non-soy formula (Arch Dis Child. 2004 Jan; 89(1):37-40).

Soy this and soy that.....have you ever noticed that people who are so called "healthnuts" often look weak and frail almost sickly.
It tastes like crap and frankly if it doesn't have a face or made a noise before death why bother eating it.
