If your cat was outside and she is over the age of 5 month chances are 95% she's definitely pregnant. I'll have to side with the person above me. People need to learn that there are resources available to do low fee spays at local animal shelters. They can average anywhere between $30-50 for a spay. Please have your cat spayed after her kittens have been weaned after 6-8 weeks.

At about three weeks after a successful mating a cats nipples will become more prominent & 'pink' up ... so the fact that you've noticed that they are bigger does seem to imply that she is.

Did you make a note of the day that she broke out:? If so, here's a link to a calculator that should give you an idea of what day the kittens are due - it's normally 63-65 days after meeting up with the tom cat.

You might find this website useful as well, though it's going to lecture you slightly about being a responsible pet owner.

I know what it's like though. I was housesitting for my cousin for two weeks whilst she was on holiday about six years back. Took my Siamese with me to keep me company & a tom cat climbed in through a window & ravished my poor little girl. (that was tongue in cheek by the way ... I'm sure that poor little girl thoroughly enjoyed herself). My major problem then was how on earth to get the smell of tom cat out of the house before my cousin came back. The blighter had sprayed everywhere!

I didn't take her to the vets to get one of those morning after injections - instead, like you, I decided to let nature take it's course. It did & she had five gorgeous kittens. I also didn't want to spay her as hoped to have pedigree kittens in the future ... the annoying thing was that I had arranged for her to go & see a lovely prize winning Siamese.

I'd make sure that you feed your cat good nutrious food, trying to get the balance between too much & making her fat & enough, to feed both her & the growing kittens. I think I'd recommend that you switch her onto kitten food which is higher protein than normal cat food.

Cats, unlike some dogs, don't generally have problems with too big kittens. So she should be okay. But watch her when she goes into labour. If she is seriously straining (& you can see glimpses of a kitten) for much longer than an hour, then I suggest that you take her immediately to the vet.

In fact, if you can afford it, pop her along now & have a chat - the vet will give her the once over & also give you good advice.

This site might also help give you some idea of what the actual birth will be like.

Don't worry though, most cats can manage on their own - even if they are a little bit young & small.

I've been breeding Bengals for the last three years & only had to go to the vets once. It was Fuzzy's first litter & she was about 16months old. The problem seemed to be that, although she was looking large, she only had the one kitten & the vet had to help her give birth to it. Remarkably, the kitten survived.

Hope that this helps & that things go well for your little girl.

If her stomach is hard, I'd take her to the vet. Could be bloating or something. I don't think the stomach should be hard. Just to be sure, take her in.

If she is pregnant, then I would be very careful, she's young and could have trouble. Taking her to the vet would be best.... good luck.
