1tbsp butter melted or oil
1 cup rice
salt to taste
2 cups boiling water

add rice to melted butter stir to coat each grain of rice
you will notice the rice takes on an even whiter appearance. Add boiling water, stir, cover with a tight fitting lid and reduce the heat to the lowest possible amount of heat. Simmer covered for 15 minutes.

Rice will not be sticky or clumped together using this method.

Rice is always a one to two ratio... 2 cups rice - 4 cups water....

If you buy a rice cooker you can never mess up rice. Just make sure you wash the rice to get rid of all the excess starch. And instead of measuring because it never seems to come out just right, I add the water and the put my pointer finger in to touch the top of the rice, when the water reaches my first knuckle then I know I have the right amount. Just make sure that the pot is level. This has been handed down to me from my dad, and his mom whom owned a chinese restaurant. And trust me, it works every time!!
