I usually floss first, then brush to remove all the stuff that was loosened by flossing. Then I gargle because the liquid now has better access to my gums and teeth with all the gunk removed. I happen to have the blue listerine, which leaves a slight blue tint to my teeth after I gargle, which I don't like, so I end up brushing again to make them white again.

Listerine and other mouthwashes like that are too strong for daily use on your gums and mouth. I gargle after I floss, use small brushes between my teeth, and brush, and never use mouthwash more than once a day, and try to find a less powerful mouthwash.

I gargle with Scope after I brush. I get the feeling that it washes away the residual particles loosened by brushing.

I do it after because there are germs all over our toothbrushes too. The listerine kills all the germs that brushing can't. :o)
