Is this good news that he is out of power or are America's problems just beginning?

I can tell you I'm pleased. This allows a new, fresh face to take over and we can see how his leadership is, and Rumsfeld was no good leader. He mismanaged troop numbers before the war. The generals said they needed at least 400,000 troops to fight, and he gave them about 100 some-on thousand. He denied many well experienced people's requests and that harmed him. He did not give the military vehicles aduquate armor, and not much has still been done about that. He always argued with people and actually seemed like he had quite a temper at times. Many generals who oppose Rumsfeld say they wish that Colon Powell was Secretary Of Defense still, because of his good military experience, compared to Rumsfeld's poor experience. The War in Afghanistan was Powell's responsibility, and as far as I know, it went a lot better than the Iraq War is going. Hopefully the war will go better without him.

i think of its a capture for the democrats. they have been saying they're going to repair Iraq so then Rumsfeld has been a extensive situation all alongside so he eliminates him places a sparkling guy in, so as that the democrats cant blame rumsfeld for no longer listening. the recent guy is yet another Bushie close family contributors pal so it extremely doesnt depend. It merely all a capture for the democrats to fail.

IT'S GREAT NEWS! Rumsfeld was too stubborn and never responded well to criticism. With a fresh face in the Sec of Defense position, it'll be easier for the Dems to deal w/him instead of Rumsfeld.

not really...we'll just get someone new to blame our problems on. you can't blame the direction the war in iraq is going solely on him. there are others that are to blame as well. he wanted to resign a few years back but the president wanted him to stay. i say good luck to whatever he does next.

Hey! Why don't you figure out how the higher ranking military brass can answer your question and then ask the same question of the lowly enlisted ranks.

It is too soon to tell. I want to say yes, but I first want to see how his replacement performs. I will be even more happy when we get a non-self-serving administration in office.

He was just too stubborn, but a very smart man. Overall I think I am glad he has gone.

He quit cuz he new the new house would be all over him grilling questions about his next strategy. Something that he or anybody has the time to do.

He stepped down, and I am more happy for the troops, than myself. They deserve someone better.

The only better news would have been if Cheney would have also resigned.
