My fiance and I are looking at house plans and I found one I like. However, there is a section of the house that is called "Parlour" and I have no idea what it's for. It just looks like a waste of space. Could someone tell me what this is? Thanks!

It's a fancy word for living room. It's where the family sits around to watch television or entertain visitors and such. With some families its also the dining room.

The parlour is the waiting room or entry room. Sometimes called a sitting room or tea room. Just a small room to greet your guests.

It's an old-fashioned term meaning the greeting area when guests first come in. It's where the butler takes their coats and hats before coming into the living room.
