If you have a new invention that you made up in your head, but you can't personally make it yourself, what do you do? Any tips on who to go to?

That really depends on what sort of materials and processes are involved in creating you invention.

First though, create a blueprint of your invention, and then patent that. Once you have it patented, take it to a company and ask them to make a proto-type. If the invention works as well as you planned, you can either sell the patent or spend lots of cash making more final versions for sale.

Depends on the type of product and how much capital you have. If you want to bypass the patent step, you will still need to get it on paper before making the product, you might look into a bank loan and a suitable design and prototype contract manufacturer.
Try a company in Palo Alto, CA called IDEO (www.IDEO.com).

Just be aware that there's more to business than making a product, such as the market demand, distribution channel, competition, barriers to entry (of future competitors), and capital risk.

Well, if you can write it down, what it is, what it does, when you thought of it, etc. and maybe include drawings of what it is, then you can submit it for patent approval. That way, no one can steal your idea when you go out to have it made.
