A blessing, that I have a son in the first place!! My son is now 2 and my life was in a downward spiral until I found out I was pregnant (which was at 32 wks!!) since I have been blessed by this beautiful being, I could not ask for more in life. Of course I wish his Father was around, I have sent B-day invites, pics of him as I take them, x-mas cards etc. with no response. At least he has at least one parent as that is better than none!!

Depends on what they are now doing. If a single Parent is looking for a new husband/wife instead of focusing all there attention to raising there kids to adulthood then the first few things that come to mind are

Selfish, Stupid, Cruel, Glutting for punishment

On the other hand if a single Parent is doing the right thing and committing solely to raising there children i think of

Brave, Kind hearted, Great Person, Giving, Strong, Someone who will make it in this world.

Outsider. Being a child of a single parent when I was growing up I was the only kid without a father in my neighborhood. There were certainly plenty of awkward moment's. Of course now day's it's so common it probably doesn't matter. My question is, unless a person is independently wealthy or hit's the lottery, how can they afford to be a single parent? If they're not, and have to work, who is raising the child, their child care provider or grand parent(s)? It take's two people to make a baby if they're compatible enough to do that why can't they stay together and raise it? If they're not compatible enough to stay together to raise it why do they want to have it with each other in the first place? People are alway's saying how superior human's are to animal's, then they turn around and act just like them. Making babies without any kind of thought process involved, just doing what their natural urge's lead them to do. Of course death can lead to a single parent status and then the first thing that come's to mind is, sad.

Hard working, under appreciate, strong, independent, responsible. I was a single mom for 12 years {after my divorce}and was all of those things I was NEVER and will NEVER be on welfare as one person stated. Sure alot of single parents have to use the welfare system but there is a difference between a helping hand and a hand out.

Selfless

solo parent is a better saying as single makes it seem like they are looking for a partner and some people I know are too devoted to their kids for now.
