***** is a Spanish word translated to English is "Black". It don't really matter what you think. It really is up to your friends on whether or not they want to take offense.

It is a little thoughtless but maybe that person grew up not knowing. I can't help but feel a little strange saying the word '*****' even when referring to the color black in Spanish. I don't think this situation should be mulled over too much but if you see that couple again and if they say that again confront them nicely.

Personally, someone refers to me as a ***** I am going to be upset. P/C would be African American, but I like just being black. Why did your friends race have to be brought up anyway? You don't speak to people that way. "Hey whitey" that's rude and it was rude the other way too.

why on earth and how did the colour of their skin come up in conversation anyway? How was it relevant - this is my friend Sam he is a Negroe? I was not there but this sounds very rude that anyone's colour was mentioned.

It's only wrong if the people being referred to that way think of it as wrong.

I find it very peculiar that you felt the need to mention that "your black friends" and your wife, And let me guess, you are transparent! I see right through you! RACIST, BIGOT! IGNORANT! May God forgive you for your ignorance and disrespect. God bless

It's just an out of date term for blacks or African-Americans.
I just wonder why they would mention it in the conversation.
