I think I would like a nice stateside job. James Jones, the author of "The Thin Red Line" and who had served on Guadacanal visited Omaha beach. He looked at the beach, the commanding hillside positions the Germans held, the 200 meter run from the waterline to the cliffs and thought, "Thank God I wasn't here."

granted assault had to be couragous to charge a fortified position but airborn were put right in the middle and didnt know which way things were coming.

Now days airborne rangers are the men of men. If I could be half the man these men are I would die happy.
