The equation that shows fossil fuel as a greenhouse gas contributor is an easy one. The equation for Agricultural use is a bit more complicated. Although the growth of the bananas is taking up carbon dioxide, the issue is about what the land was prior to being a banana plantation. If rain forest is cleared to make way for increased banana production, then there is a net loss of carbon uptake activity. If the plantation has been in operation for a long time, then we move on to the effect of the farming practices. If the harvested field is burned, then all of that carbon & soot is released into the atmosphere, but if most of the surplus material is fermented to make ethanol to run farm equipment, than you are reducing fossil fuel emmissions of CO2.
Simply put, If the banana plantation is well established and run well with modern technology, than I do not believe it is a substatial contributor to global warming, but if virgin land is still being cleared and by-products are not being used, than yes bananas are part of the global warming problem.

Having increased temperatures due to global warming, banana plants will be able to produce fruit in northern areas of the world, where banana fruit had never been able to form in the past.
Although banana plants existed in mild climates they weren't able to produce fruit because the climate was not "tropical" enough. Global Warming is changing all that, and now it will probably be possible to see bananas growing on the the northern part of the hemisphere.
Makes one wonder........What kind of "apes" will be climbing up those banana trees.

Of course they do.

Any product that is farmed requires arable land to do so. Crops like bananas tend to do better in tropical climates, which means replacing rain forest with banana plantations. But, it doesn't stop there, you have to ship them to the customers and most modern methods of shipping use fossil fuels and produce greenhouse gasses.

yes, they cause people to fart, which causes global warming! not really.. they are actually a factor against it, since their trees eats carbon dioxide.. so they are actually a positive thing for it.
