I have not tried anything new within the last 48 hours. I cant stop scratching and itching.

sounds like you have hives which are caused by an allergic reaction; you can develop allergies at any time; maybe soap, something you ate, something in the atmosphere, etc.
also possible you were itchy and you had something on your hands and when you scratched, you introduced an allergen to your skin
you could also have pox of some kind; might want to go to doctor if you've never had pox of any kind before

a nice soak in an oatmeal bath will help
put quick cooking oats, about a cupful, in an old sock and leave it for about half an hour in a pot of water you've just boiled. then pour the water and the sock into your bathtub and fill the tub so that the water is running over the sock. get in and squeeze the sock over your skin and gently rub in the oatmeal milk that comes out. I got poison ivy all over myself when I was eight months pregnant! thank God for oatmeal!
