I'm in a relationship now, but I can't help but jump to conclusions or make a stupid assumption for all the wrong reasons. How long will I have to relive my past?

Thats a tough one to handle.I have been devorced 6 years now.After my ex did her thing I tried to date off and on for awhile but something kept me from getting serious with someone.I noticed that everytime I found a person I liked and wanted to get to know better this nagging feeling would get in the way.
I thought about this for sometime and realized that it was me and trust was the issue.A couple of the ladies I dated told me that I had put up a wall and they couldn't find a way to get around it.Lately I haven't had as hard of a time trusting someone but its still there.I'm not sure if it will ever go away completely.

it will take time to trust your instincts again. the great thing about that though is you will be more willing to get out when things don't seem right. congratulations on 20 years, most people never see that! you must be some catch. i would always trust my gut feelings. with someone like you, you will be able to pick and choose always listen to that inner voice.

You have a new person with in which to share your life with, so you need to start at zero with him and hope he will live up to the trust...Dont carry feelings over from the bad relationship you had...it would only cause trouble for you.....good luck...
