Go to Petfinder. I Please don't confuse Petfinder with Puppyfind. Puppyfind is nothing ,more than an Internet puppy store and they will charge you an arm and a leg.

There are tons of Aussies and aussie mixes up for rescue in the Portland area. In fact, there's one in Clackamas Animal Shelter right now. Their prices are $53-$130, depending on the dog.
However, I have several concerns. Dogs as gifts are not good ideas. They are a lifetime committment that needs to be thought out thoroughly.
You haven't spelled Australian Shepherd correctly. To me this means that you haven't done any research on the breed. They are a VERY ACTIVE breed that needs someone to play with them and give them tasks for several hours a day. If you work long hours or have other priorities, then this is not a great breed for you.
Next, if you can't afford to pay a reputable breeder for a dog, then you may not be able to afford a dog. With vets, toys, treats, food, upkeep, grooming, etc, dogs can cost $1000 a year. Is that something your tight budget can handle? What happens if the dog gets sick? Can you afford a $1000 vet bill? You can't just hope that those things don't happen, you have to plan that they will and then be happy when they don't.
If you aren't interested in rescue, then you at least need to find a reputable, responsible, ethical breeder. Supporting puppy mills, backyard breeders, 'oops' breeders, internet kennels, and newspaper ad breeders supports animal cruelty, pet over population, and the killing of unwanted animals in shelters. I'll link to a resource to help you find a reputable breeder.
Good luck to you in your search.

If you cannot only afford $200, then an aussie is probably not the best dog for you. How will you get her spayed? How will you care for her properly? They need exceptional care and real time exercise. A nice walk every day is not enough. Please adopt!!

Please look on www.petfinder.com Alos please consider an older dog. There are so many homeless pets out there. It would be a wonderful Christmas present for them too. What a perfect gift, then the gift of life to do in a shelter.

His name's Rocky, but she calls him "Thunks". And for good reason. When you get one, and he gets big (which he will), you'll find out why.
