Well I think the danger is not in the act but in the thought process - fantasies eg. This is the door through which the Enemy comes (lust or sexual sin) and it's a door that ought to be closed but is hard to once it has a foot in the door...
Jesus says that even if you *think* of another person you have committed adultery in your heart, which is as bad as if you had actually done it in real life. So it's best to not get to the point of temptation int he first place. Not that I am saying it is easy to resist, that's the ideal, that's all.

It never specifically referrs to mastrubution. However, it speaks of not letting there be even a hint of sexual immorality among you. Joshua Harris, a well-known Christian author, has a book titled "Not Even a Hint". Still there are other well-known Christians, such as Dr. James Dobson, who see no problem with mastrubution, but see it as a natural part of how God designed us. Dobson explains in his book on the Christian adolecent experience. I'm not sure at this present moment where I stand on it.

I do not know. But from my understand God is concerned about about your spirit and your true desires. Maybe it is what is going through your head when masturbating. Are you thinking about someone? Cause the Bible says something about not having unclean thoughts. And adultery (even just as a passing thought) is a sin.

When God was upset because Onan spilled his seed onto the ground, it was because he was supposed to have been trying to impregnate his dead brother's wife with his seed. God had already killed his brother for being wicked and when Onan disobeyed him, he killed him too; not for masturbating... but for disobedience and refusing to impregnate his brother's wife. Read Genesis 38: 1-10 in any version of the bible you find to be understandable.

What does the Bible say about pleasing yourself? Is this classified as selfishness? It all depends on how one interpets the Bible. So look up masturbating in th Bible and see what you can find!

it says nothing, but a lot of crazy weird evangelicals would say that it does say no to the question. I would say screw it, the bible does not dwell on the subject no matter how much they want to stretch it out to fit some Sunday sermon.

Gen.38:9-10
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.

I dont know but I think that it is bad because you are suppose to be focusing on God not on yourself or your flesh, your suppose to make yourself stronger in the spirit of the Lord.

Isn't it fascinating that such a harmless natural act would be condemned but stoning some guy is condoned?
