Osama Bin Laden is a terrible terrorist and all (real) Muslims are against him. He has been codemned by all main Muslim leaders (though this is under reported on the media)
And Muslims have gone on demonstrations against terrorism (but again these are under reported)

Why is it assumed all Muslims are the same..Nobody assumes ALL Americans are like Timothy McVeigh the Okahoma bomber..

Why is it OK to sterotype Muslims?

I think there are more Americans that are (at least partly) like Timothy McVeigh than there are Muslims that are (at least partly) like Osama Bin Laden.

But hey, this will get me at least 7 thumbs down :)

You have made a good point. And one answer is that not all people do. However, you as well as many people, confuse (people) in Muslim countries with Islam. The problem lies within Islam-not people . Islam must confront this issue. Probably (most) Muslims are Muslim (Mohammedan) because they have no choice. It is the religion and the Koran that is wrong. And of course those who are dedicated to it.
There are millions of non-Muslim people here and abroad that want peace with you, but they realize that they can not have peace as long as Islam controls even one person. It is Muslims like you who must turn Islam wrongside out and clean the rats out if you ever hope for peace. We can not do it-we can only pray for you.

If it were just one, maybe less people would think so.

It's not any one person behind this way of thinking. There've been multiple acts of terrorism, happening in multiple countries. It's a trend.

That's not to excuse people who stereotype a billion people based on the actions of a few hundred, but that's where this kind of thinking comes from.

When I watched the planes fly into the twin towers, my first reaction was, "Nuke Iraq." I was upset, but I thought more rationally after that. I actually have a friend from Iraq. He chooses not to be a Muslim, though his parents and siblings are. I have a friend from Bangladesh who is Muslim and he is one of the least offensive people I have known.

The news media is to blame. Try FOX NEWS for the best example of this..........Bush territory.

You are right---there have been some major demonstrations against radical (terrorists) Islam--the media does not cover this. They cover the ones that make Muslims look bad.

it is not okay to stereotype muslims. It is the said society we live in that one person can ruin the reputation of a religion. We as a nation feel its okay to generalize other cultures because we feel dominate. I for one think its ridiculious. People cant understand why other countries dont like us but they are quick to buy into and stereotype others.

Please send the link to this website to the people that killed 35 Pakistani soldiers and 40 civilians in two different parts of Pakistan. These killings happened today 08/11/2006.

When the killings of Muslim on Muslim, as seen in Iraq, stop then I will believe Islam has changed.

In the meantime I welcome the messages on that website.

I don't think it's just Muslims who are stereotyped. I think we've all been stereotyped at one point or another. I mean - I see a lot of people stereotyping Christians and atheists here. I've noticed a lot of people will stereotype whole countries based on their government. We stereotype homosexuals, people of different ethnic backgrounds, and people of various colors.

I almost wonder if it's just human nature because our brains are wired to match like with like so we can process information. For many they may generalize without even realizing their doing it.

Likely for the same reasons that people stereotype Christians. They hear of a televengelist getting caught having sex with a prostitute or something, and use that as evidence to condemn all Christians.

It's just ignorance that causes it. People are too lazy to actually learn about what they're slagging.

People rather judge one religion/nationality after one person's mistake. Nowadays, people assume things rather than knowing the person for who they are. Many muslims go through alot because they are discriminated, not respected.
