Ok my 16 year old sister came to me and said she hasn't been able to keep food down for a couple days or water. She is feeling like passing out while sitting in class and has hot spells. She has lost 5 pounds in like one month and has dark circles under her eyes. She is just not the cheery little girl she used to be and she seems very down and depressed. Does anyone know what this could be and how I can help her. See I did take her to the doctor and they put her on 2 IV to rehidrate her, and right when she got out of the hospital she was out running around? So someone can you please help

She is asking you for help. No one can diagnose her problem except her doctor, and she needs to see one QUICKLY! Go to your parents privately and explain the situation. Your parent will be proud of you, and your sister will get the help she needs. Doing nothing could cost her life.

I am not sure if this fits your daughter but I will tell you about my simular issue.

I have overactive acid producers in my stomach. I found this out when I was about 20. I had started a new "diet" and was trying not to eat very often. Within a couple weeks of this the acid got the best of me and I was forced to see the doctor. I was given IV and felt great......for about 3 days.
I had trained my body not to be hungry. Now, If I go more then 4 hours without eating I now get very ill. I vomit acid and feel like I will pass out. (Same as before I knew about the acid)

Ask you daughter if she has been either not eating or taking any type of diet pill that contains caffeine (this also dehydrates).

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

She said she hasn't been able to keep food down... Has anyone seen her throw up or use the bathroom? There's a possibility of an eating disorder. There are also plenty of other medical conditions that can cause this including Celiac Disease, acid reflux (GERD), among others. Definitely bring up your concerns with your parents and encourage them to take her back to the doctor for testing. This doesn't sound like something that should be taken lightly.

This sounds like a serious problem. Talk to your parents, or any other adult you trust and get her to a real medical doctor to be looked at. It could be anything, but right now just get her help!

Sounds like irritable bowel syndrome. Have her check it out as soon as possible. If that's what it is, it needs to be fixed. Good luck.
