Yes

If a Muslim converts to Christianity or any other religion than it does say in the Koran that it is better if they were to die rather no longer be Muslim.

In some Muslim countries you actually have to pay a "tax" if you are not Muslim.

Hold on a sec and I will attach a couple of links that contains material by Muslims and former Muslims, one of whom was a professor of Islamic history at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.

His own father held a gun to his head when he found out his son had converted to Christianity.

Here's the links.

Muslims are commanded by the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) to respect the "People of the Book". This is referring to Jews and Christians. When they were told to kill the infidels was during a war that was led by followers of the Prophet and the people they were killing were idol worshippers. They do not kill the families of converts and in fact there are many Muslim men who are married to Christian and Jewish women following the example of the Prophet himself who was married to a Jewish woman. Dont believe all of the lies that are spread about Islam, see for yourself the truth.

First of all, your basing your judgement on false information! You're judging Islam from something you've read from a *Christian* book, that's not right! Many Christians books portray Islam in negatively exaggerated way. Anyways, the Quran says nothing about killing Infidels, in fact it says nothing about killing at all. You should know that Islam is a very peaceful religion and the word "Islam" means *peace*. It's not true that families kill other family members because they converted to other religions, because in Islam the ultimate judge is Allah, and it is up to him to judge you and not anyone else. GOD will deal with transgressors, not humans.

What is mentioned in Holly Quran that those Non- believers if they fight you , then you should and if not do not. If you come to the details in the prophet PB UH says , it explains that in details that only fighters to be killed and not others or ladies, kids, elderly, animals or to destroy their land, even it is mentioned not to cut a tree.
------------------------
So, I think just open you intelligence and Brain to other ideas and just read the translations of Holly Quran and do some search about Islam and you can judge it your self.

All the best to you.

No I don't believe it says that word for word. My grandfather's Muslim and he isn't a infidel killer at all, I am christian and he's never made fun or shown his disproval of my religion. I think just as the bible says spread the word the Koran says it too. But I think that just as many people interpret the bible people intepret the Koran. Thinking that voilence must be spread by the sword.

Islam is open to interpretation by many crazy weird radical Muslims that take advantage of the mostly uneducated and poor populations of the areas where it predominates. The great majority however just want to live peacefully and in harmony with their environment. I would have no fear of your friend. People shouldn't fight for religious reasons, now if your friend eats your lunch, hey, that's a different question.
