Many people don't like to take showers with other people around.Because they might not like it when other people look at them when they are naked.Like if you had a huge scar on your back,and you had to take a public shower,you would feel uncomfortable too.

there are a number of people who are uncomfortable in public showers but it depends on the person actually. it boils down to you cultural background i believe. for example asians dont feel comfortable in locker rooms where you will see everybody naked showering but american wont mind since they are used to it. there was this one instance that this american guy is an asian country and he showered naked where all others where in their underwear so it explains. althoughit depends on the person aside fron that cultural background or custom.

It has to do with body image more than anything. Body image issues can run the gamut from feeling too skinny to feeling too fat, or feeling self-conscious about things like scars or birthmarks. And when people are naked in front of others, those perceived flaws are visible to those in the area.

Yeah, and many of us are/were afflicted with self-consciousness!
Funny story for you. It happened in 6th grade, when I was one of the few to have begun developing. I was walking bare-a$$ed into the shower - or maybe out of it - when I slipped and fell.
I lay there for a few stunned seconds or perhaps an eternity, feeling the boobs wobbling back and forth and all my newly acquired womanly attributes shaking and then settling back into place. I laid there spread-eagled, jiggling like a jellyfish for all to see.
That pretty much cured me of being comfortable showering in public.

Most people just aren't comfortable being naked in front of other people. Also, I guess a lot of people probably feel self-conscious about part of their bodies. Men might feel embarrassed about the size of their penises, or women might have issues with how their breasts look.

As a nudist it doesn't bother me at all, whether all male or mixed showers.

it;s ego and self awareness. I personally, rather do my shower and get out. Everyone mind their business and I'll do the same.
