I believe it is very important to educate people about the difference between open loop carbon sources, that is fossil fuel which has been out of the air for 10's of thousands of years and closed loop carbon sources, like ethanol who's carbon was in the air last year. Open loop carbon sources have contributed to an increase in atmospheric CO2. Closed loop carbon sources have little effect on atmospheric CO2 because the carbon will have very recently been pulled from the atmosphere. This isn't to say that corn produce ethanol is the best solution, but bio mass is better than fossil fuel any day! Good luck on your report!

1. That an increase in global warming, caused by man, is a only a theory, not a proven fact.
2. The earth has always experienced global warming. The sun has been shining for over 5 billion years, and there have been untold numbers of climate changes in that time. For all but the last 100 years, no one was measuring and keeping track of temperatures. So the raw data is lacking.

When the 9-11 tragedy happened in NYC, some experts were monitoring the effects of the lack of any aircraft travel over the USA and were speculating that the contrails from airplanes were a cause of global warming. There was a debate on this subject (however limited) and my feelings are that they have little effect, if any. BUT, you can probably find some interesting hypothesis on this theory.

Bill W's claims further validate the theory of Global warming. It's not just that the climate is getting warmer, it's that the polar ice caps are melting and, as shown in Bill's example, it cools the parts closest to the caps because it is able to spread out. It may eventually come to the point of another ice age because of it. Also, cmon, you release enough pollution that it causes skies to become blackened, something's gotta happen enviornmentally. I don't care who you are, clouds change weather and it doesn't matter if that cloud is water or CO2 or other pollution base.

...that global warming is a myth dreamed up by left-wing people who want Western civilization to be punished for its wealth. So they want all of the Western industry shut down "to save the planet" and have the West pay Kyoto credits to poor countries, while the poor countries will be allowed to pollute as much as they wish.
