Who thinks the skin on home made rice pudding is disgusting?

Just eaten some pudding but had to throw the skin away as it made me want to vomit.

Do you know, the skin off a rice pudding is the very best part. Most tasty, most texturally satisfying, most colourful, most home-made looking bit. Love it.

That takes me back, nearly half a century. On a fine Sunday, I'd put a breast of lamb pot roast and a Rice pudding with nutmeg in the oven and we'd take the baby out for a long, long walk in her pram. When we got home, I'd stir in the top skin, another sprinkle of nutmeg, and let it go on cooking while we had the pot roast.

Not called the skin, it's the scab! And it's the best bit! Holds the highest concentration of Nutmeg. Got I want a rice-pudding scab right now!

Home-made rice pudding is one of the best desserts that can be consumed, and the skin is the crowning glory. If you don't like it, remove the skin before serving. Easy! It's all a matter of personal preference...

Your mum obviously didn't tell you it's the best bit! It's a generational family thing - if you were told it's the best bit from an early age you would have loved it. However, if your mum wasn't told that when she was a nipper then she wouldn't have liked it either. It's the same with the skin of jacket potatoes..... I was told by my mum that it's the best bit and IT IS!!! xxx
