The 360 does indeed output 1080P, and it does so via component AND VGA. The 360 does NOT have a HDMI or DVI output, and HDMI/DVI are not the only method of outputting 1080p. You must download the newest update from Xbox Live, which means you need a live high speed internet connection. Just released a week ago. The small HD switch on the Component cable dongle must be switched to HD in oder for this to work as well. Go to Xbox.com for more info.

I got this off a website..
Xbox 360 does not support 1080p at this time. It’s an incremental improvement at an astronomical expense, and we don’t see consumers clamoring for 1080p TVs yet. We will continue evaluate the market and deliver the capability when and if customers want it.
It does mention it can do 1080i though. Unless someone makes it work HDMI is no out for use yet.

An HDMI or DVI cable is the only way to achieve 1080p.
