We know Padraig won't stop his Irish fun-loving life style enough to be in the top 5...why did Retief fade this weekend on the back 9? This guy, to me, has super talent but gets irritated when the going get super tough! Agree? Why? What to do?

Retief is the better athlete because even though he did not win last week, he has strong finishes at the Tour Championship, the last three years (1st in 2004, T4th in 2005, and solo 4th in 2006) which is pretty good for the course that they play on. Harrington is just a golfer who talks like Mickey Mouse and was lucky enough to win a PGA tournament last year when Vijay missed a milimeter long putt in a playoff. Okay it wasn't that short, but you get my point. Retief, who was struck by lightning as an ameture on a golf course, has shown that he should be respectd in the same way that people respect Vijay, Mickelson, and Els. But is not. Retief has won 2 US Opens including 2004 when the whole entire universe was rooting for Phil and Retief was just making putt after putt, par save after par save. I mean, fans were cheering him when he bogeyed. That's just amazing that he could win with all of those distractions. I think that's what a real athlete does.

Back to last week . . . he did not really fade (I would have to say Vijay did that job for him) it's just that Adam Scott played better. Just like the Players' Championship, where Retief played great golf (hitting a brillant second shot from the edge of the fairway and water on the 72nd hole and made a rare birdie there) but finshed 2nd because Stephen Ames played better.

Another thought: Did you see Padraig at the Tour Championship? No, because the better athletes are the ones who qualify for the big (and larger pursed) tournaments.

You know golf is not an easy game. Even the best have problems from time to time. It seems as if Retief's putting is not as good as it has been in the past. At this stage it seems that Padraig is more on his game than Retief. I mean he did win the European Order of Merit. I think however that Retief is the better athlete. He has won two major titles! That is the top prize in golf. I think Retief will come back strong next year. Maybe he just have some confidence problems.

Retief is the better golfer. But Padraig is the better all around athlete.

Retief is the better athlete. His game is pretty steady but he has obvious times when he is in the zone.
