I've been trying to lose 5 pounds for the past month...I eat fairly healthy. No fast food. Breakfast (oatmeal, yoghurt and a glass of water) I do yoga at least 4 times a week, but I can't seem to lose this weight. Does anyone know how I can, being a diabetic, lose weight?

The reason why your not losing weight is because of your insulin. The area that you inject your insulin in usually is the area you will see a weight gain. I'm not quite sure why, but it's there. Your doing a great job with your eating habits and doing YOGA, and it's a little tricky to lose weight as a diabetic.

However, there is one thing that you can do to lose the weight, and still be able to maintain healthy sugar levels. You can reduce the amount of carbs.

Both my brother and sister have Juvinile Diabetes, they both are younger than me as well, and my sister complains about her tiny pouch or her upper arms, because thats where she applies the insulin, and those areas are the areas where she has the most weight. My brother applies his on his belly and he is big there too.. however, my brother is also Autistic, and because of that he only eats two things, pizza and fried chicken, there is no way we can change his diet without disturbing him mentally. So I got him "CARB CHEATER" which you can type in online and order a few or find out where they are sold, but he would take one of these pills, two if it was a heavy carb meal 30 minutes before he ate, and honest to god, in 2 to 3 months he lost 20lbs! Also, they helped with his insulin levels too, because as you know, diabetics are suppoze to have a limited number of carbs.

So you may want to try something like that. Don't do ATKINS, it's bad for you. Your diabetic so your digestive system is sensitive and deleting carbs completely out of your diet will cause faster kindey failure, and other digestive related disease. Hope this helps!

What do you eat the rest of the day, and are you keeping your blood sugars under control. This is a question for your physician and/or nutritionist who should be advising you since you are diabetic.

excercise the big muscle groups- legs and back. Quick walking will do. Be sure to monitor the blood sugar level though, until you get used to the effort.
Diabetics can run in the marathon. So long as they use their heads (and glucose meters)
