I am getting married in the spring. I have been told that my colours should be bright and/or pastel. Would it look like a funeral if I had my bridesmaids and groomsmen all in black?

My wedding was in July and my colors were pink, pink, and more pink. But I didn't want my bridesmaid looking like a peptobizmalt ad, so they wore black. It was stunning and timeless, and a year and a half later I am still getting compliments.

They wore strapless, tea dresses, and held bouquets of light pink flowers.

It is your wedding and it will be beautiful.

Some of the most elegant weddings I've seen have had black used.
But for Spring, I'm not too sure. Would probably work if it's a evening wedding.

I just performed a wedding where the back of the bridal gown was accented in black. The maids wore long black dresses with a white sash. Classy.
Look at some of these

Personally, it's probably the only dress that the maids even stand the remotest chance of ever wearing again. I think it's a smart move.

I've seen bridesmaids in black dresses. It looks okay, formal. But you might consider having some type of accent put on it with a bright color, such as red. Just so it can look happier and not too dull. A red rose or red jewels on it would look nice.

Its your day honey do what you want. If you want black as a color and want to stay away from pale or bright colors maybe you can have the girls wear black tea length skirts with a white tops and the guys have white shirts with white ties. You can add some color with flowers or use white flowers for the bouquets. Good Luck and Take Care

I went to a wedding in August where the bridesmaids wore black. I thought it looked very elegant, and they liked it because they could rewear the dresses on another occasion. It was an outdoor wedding, but I don't remember anything that made it very "fall" ish.

I think black would be fine if that's what you want. I say ditch tradition and do whatever. I did and got massive compliments on my wedding.

I think you should choose another colors. You want your wedding to be happy not like a funeral. If you dont like pastel colors thats fine but not black

I think black is flattering on almost everyone. Black is especially elegant if you are having an evening or night wedding. I am thinking about having black bridesmaids dresses for my wedding, actually. You could have them all wear black but each wear a different style of dress that is most flattering to their figure. Make your own rules, after all, it's YOUR day to enjoy :)

I just got married in August and had my bridesmaids in black! It looked great! I think that was the best decision I ever made becuase they look SO good in the pictures and will never be out-dated. Just get colorful flowers....colorful flowers look SO good up against the black dresses! Everyone told me to get a colored bridesmaid dress...but I am so glad I didn't.

Black is very chic. There are some gorgeous dresses out there in black. Maybe do the groomsmen in something other than black, maybe blue or something that ties in with your other color choices. Everything can't be black or people will be waiting for the hearse to show up!

Black is fine, just don't use red or hot pink as an accent color, that screams totally 80s. I'm not a big fan of the whole "It's my wedding" attitude, but this is one instance where the bride should get her way. People can tell you whatever they want, but the bride gets to pick her colors, with some input from her fiance (not her fiance's mom).
