I'm having weird memory issues. I forget the simplest things, sometimes even the names of my best friends. I have trouble finishing sentences, and I'll forget how to say or spell certain words like enough, and other simple words like that. I don't get what's wrong with me. I figured maybe it was because I don't get enough sleep, but lately I've been going to bed earlier and getting at least 9 hours of sleep. That's a problem too. I'm always tired. I don't get what's wrong. It's starting to affect my grades, so I need to find a way to fix whatever's wrong.

slow down and begin to think about what's going on. The best thing to make you stop is to meditate (now you think I'm a hippie, but it works). Sit in your room with the lights off, soothing music on, and begin to analize how you're feeling overall, move down your body relaxing each individual muscle and feeling how it feels and how tense it may be. Now when you're extremely relaxed (or half asleep) begin to think about your life. Think about what's going on, who you talked to, what they said. Just go over the events of the day in your head but try not to get riled up when something you think about upsets you because it's over. I think you'll find that throught the day you'll feel much more relaxed and "with it". You'll be able to concentrate in class and your friends rather than the million irrelevent things going on.

Have you recently been through a traumatic experience? Such as the death of someone close to you, a move far away from close family & friends, or just getting overwhemled by a new lifestyle or responsibilities?
I have the problem as you do with my memory failing me on things that should be so simple to remember. Mine had been steadily decreasing for the past 4 years, but Ive come to the conclusion that it is due to the loss of my daughter. My mind is constantly focused on that, so it's hard to make room for anything else I suppose. This is just self-diagnosis, but it makes perfect sense to me. When you have so many things running through your thoughts its very simple to lose track of the things you find unimportant or that do not correspond with your main objective. I hope it gets better for you though, and if you are in school please see someone about it so you can get OTC medicines which are suppose to help your memory.

You need to go to the doctor and see if you are sick or something. This does sound like a problem. Something is draining you. My brother was tired all of the time and couldn't remember anything because he was so tired and his blood sugar went dangerously low and when my mom took him to the doctor, we found out that he was growing faster than his body could keep up with. The doctor told him some vitamins to take and now he feels and acts so much different. Hope this helps you.

As for the memory issues, try leaving yourself little notes to help you remember things you need to accomplish throughout the day.
For memory issues such as unplugging the hair dryer, turning out lights, etc., try repeating to yourself / stating out loud, as you do it.
As per the sleep issues, maybe your getting to much sleep. You didn't mention you were tired when you were getting less sleep, maybe you are getting to much sleep for your body.
If it continues, make an appointment with you Dr. for a check-up.
