Hairspray dries the hair shaft causing split ends.
When used moderatly it is not so bad.
Washing it out with a good shampoo like matrix helps.
Also not leaving it in the hair for long periods of time also helps.

Yes they are very damaging to your hair but not neccesarily if you use it once in a while. While it is damaging, there are many girls that use it EVERY SINGLE DAY so it does not damage it that much as it is thought.

It is very drying, if you must use hairspray make sure it is alcohol free. The alcohol is what makes your hair so dry. If you use a lot of product in your hair, use a clarifying shampoo once a week.

Yes it can cause your hair to break off. If you use it in moderation it wont do too much damage.

Yes. If you use too much it can cause it to get stiff and break or it can dry your hair out and make it brittle.
