it depends on your major, but not much more than you do in high school. although you may have more work, you have longer deadlines. you have a lot of essays. good luck when the time comes

It all depends on what courses you are taking. In mathematics and science a good rule of thumb is:
At least one and a half hours of homework for every hour of class.
However, there will be many times that you will go well over this.
For the philosophy, english, and history classes I took, I found that a half hour was sufficient. But, there were also essays and term papers to do, so it probably evens out.

It largely depends on the classes you take. Some Professors are really light with the homework assignments others well imagine a boat then imagine it sinking from all the papers you have to write and the books you have to read. If you take a foreign language, math, chemistry, physics, biology, etc. be prepared to have homework every night, if you take English courses some are papers everyday others you may read twelve books and write one paper.

I had SOOOO much homework in college. I was a civil Engineering major and sometimes one homework problem could take hours or days, and that wasn't the only one you had to do! Thank God.. No more homework!

It really varies depending on the person you ask. I know a few people that were on the uberman sleep schedule, which consisted of 80 minutes of sleep divided into 20 minute naps. I myself try to get 6 hours, but usually end up around 5-4 hours weekdays and 8 hours week-ends. This actually is really good, when i ask my fellow science majors, they usually only get around 4-3 hours.

Studying varies (it is rarely considered "homework", which implies specific assignments), but the usual assumption has been that you can expect to spend three hours studying outside of class for every hour you spend in class.

College homework? HA! Anticipate about two to four hours of study per subject per day. As a history major, I was required to read 32 books in one semester -- and that did not include the class text. Have fun, study hard and don't worry about having a life. If you do it right, you won't have a life. Oh, and just to brag it up a little, I once carried 23 credit hours in one semester... We all survived. So can you.
