I am presuming you used just one grape and that is not enough food mass to properly absorb all the microwave energy and that the sparking you see would happen if you turned on the microwave without anything in it at all. Doing either will probably kill the magetron in your microwave if oyu keep doing that.

Are you sure it's the grape itself or the seeds in the grape making the sparks? I'm betting on the seeds.

I bet if you stick the whole grape in your microwave it will explode!!!

I didn't know that, but i heard if you put a cd in the microwave it will make a nice light show. It's contained in the plastic so it won't damage your microwave......or so i heard.
