I don't known about schizophernia, but schizophrenia is a very serious condition, especially if the patient is off medication to keep it under control. Family, unfortunately has to live with a loved one that has this condition (if they are not in an institution), but why would any one risk the potential danger. You would need to talk to the schizophrenic's doctor know the type of medication and schedule to take it and be fully aware of all the aspects of the condition. Would you really want to devot most of your life to watching over this person unless you were his caregiver? That's what life would become, you, the care giver, he/she the patient not the lover.

My best advice to you is be a friend. However, schizophernia is a very serious illness that needs constant medical care. When it comes to dating, I would not advice it.

I think you should educate yourself fully on the disorder and really only you can make that decision. You really need to understand what you'd be getting yourself into. Dealing with someone with a chronic mental illness like that can be very difficult, bewildering and sometimes downright frightening.

If the person who has the schizophrenia is on medication which controls their symptoms, yes. If that person stops their medications, then no....you would NOT want to date them. Their behavior is too unstable and they can be a danger to themselves or others and have no idea that they are.
