I wanted to have the children ages 3 and 4 in my daycare create center pieces for a Thanksgiving table. Hopefully one that doesn't cost more than $10.00 a child, looks really cute and is easy enough for them to do. Any ideas?

I have a degree in early childhood education and here are some ideas and links:
1) First get some brown and Orange paint and use the child's hand print to make a Turkey and add a bit of red construction paper for under the turkey's neck and an eye for his head and a bit of yellow construction paper for the beak.
2) Make Indian and pilgrim hats. Older kids can cut the younger ones can color them.
3) Cut out mag pics of people and food and have them make a picture
4) Make a picture from outdoor leaves, pine cones and acorns.
5) Just look around the Internet with "thanksgiving crafts and 3yrs old" Here are a few sites I found. Good luck! And Enjoy!

I cut leaves out of paper and had the children watercolor the leaves beautiful fall colors. Then I asked the children what they were thankful for. I wrote them on the leaves. I got a huge tree branch with lots of branches and tied each leaf to a branch. Then i stuck the branch in a pot secured with old playdough. The children could also paint the pot if i had time. It was really cute. When the parents are ready to leave I will untie their child's leaf and give it to them as a gift.

I like the idea of something edible as a center piece, it is something they can enjoy looking at and be proud of especially after they get to eat it!

What about edible napkin rings?
or
Take a grapefruit for the body
An orange for the head (attach with a wooden skewer)
Dried leaves for the tail
Gloves for the eyes
a piece of red bell pepper for under the chin

Turkey Fruit Bowl. Have the kids bring a large plastic or wooden bowl. You can have them do paper mache or just cover the bowl with construction paper or colored plastic, its up to you. Add head, eyes, feather decor using construction paper or nespaper in which the kids can paint over. After decorating the 'turkey", you can extend your project by having the kids scrunch up newspaper into fruit shapes and have them paint it to fruits' colors. When done, place the "fruits" inside your "turkey" bowl. Have fun!
