From personal experience, I can say that an intake (or more) of LSD25, Psilocybin that is contained in mushrooms or mescaline in the Peyote cactus, can induce visions that most people have difficulties to understand, their mind being blurred with what they have seen or learnt in their own society. If done in proper conditions, as in with the help of a shaman (spiritual guide and medicine man) , then they can be guided to understand what it is they have experienced. Remember, these plants have been there way before us, and have been used by different tribes and cultures for time before we decided that this or that is wrong for another. The Yage (vine) aka Ayahuasca used in Brazil is what they call vine of the dead in Peru, used to communicate with their ancestors. These plants or ceremonies are not to be taken lightly. If anyone is interested on this subject, they should read "The teachings of Dom Juan" by Carlos Castaneda.

I don't think that you need to take drugs in order to see God, I think that drugs just give you more of an open mind and put in in a state in which you feel more like your on Gods level. From my experiences with drugs, I can tell you that I truly did feel as if I was closer to Gods world and less of in my own world. I truly feel that drugs can bring you closer to God if you let them. Think about it. When your high your definitely not in the same state of conciseness
as everyone else.

Some say that our limited perception cannot see reality for what it really is. They say certain drugs can enhance your perception and allow you to see parallel dimensions that seem more real than the reality we experience on a daily basis. When describing these drug induced worlds, there is a striking resemblance to biblical quotes and visions described in the bible (or so I have read). Perhaps there is some meaning to this, or perhaps its nothing but a hallucination. The beauty is that we really don't know.

Certain drugs can be used to put oneself into an alternate state of consciousness, which then makes it easier to percieve the ethereal or spiritual worlds around us. The process can be dangerous however, and possibly lethal if you overdose or administer the drugs incorrectly. Only someone with extensive experience in these matters should make any such attempt.

Certain drugs CAN have a therapeutic use in "mystic" practice. To really explain this is totally beyond the scope of a Yahoo Answer. Suffice it to say that, for the most part, drugs provide a sort of cheap and easy facsimile of "spiritual" ecstacy - hence their potential for abuse - and may in some circumstances be used as an adjuvant to assist the serious student to reach trance; but there's no substitute for the hard work of concentration, which is the real essence of religious ecstacy. "Prayer" is nothing but intense concentration.

NO! Drugs don't make you see God. You make you see god. You believe in something greater then what others do because usually drugs increase any and all emotions. This is probably a more adapt eye for things such as the virgin Mary in a doughnut.

According to His Holiness Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada Spiritual Master Who brought the Vedic knowledge to the western world. It is not the way to see God by any artificial means. He is situated in each and every ones heart. The pure saints and sages are able to see Super Soul all ways through meditating on His holy Name. It is written that drunkedness doesn't inherit the Kingdom of God. So what kingdom is revealed?

When a person nearly dies, also so is aware of spiritual. Also if a person dies, may end up at hell or heaven gates, before coming back to life on earth.

What a person sees spiritually (because of chemical imbalance) it depends what spirits are around.

When people do drugs, etc., person is aware of spirits associated with the deed. So are of a bad spiritual kingdom.

It is written to be filled with the Holy Spirit, rather than to drink to excess.

Drugs give you the illusion of God, but not the actual image.
What happens is that when you're on certain drugs, your brain works differently than when normal. Your brain stops functioning as it does and uses different paths to access information it recieves. These new paths are what gives people the illusion of deeper understanding...but it remains an illusion.

Definitely, especially L.S.D., they open parts of your mind that are otherwise closed, and we all know that god is hiding in the back of our minds somewhere. Opiates are good for spiritual experiences also. When you do heroin you can feel it in your cerebellum, almost like it's awakened, your thoughts are more tangible and you feel detatched from this world. Then again I may just be burnt out.
