We just had this same issue about a month ago with our son. We decided to take them off since he can now roll over and move around more in his crib. He is 7 mths old now and was 6 mths old when we removed them. He rolled into them a couple times, nothing serious happened. I think they learn pretty quick what is hard and will hurt. A lot of the time now I find him curled up right against the bars fast asleep, so I feel it's better to have him against the rails than face first in the bumper pad for most of the night. At first she might also get her legs or arms stuck and you might have to go in and show her how to take them out. You'll be surprised how fast she will get used to it. Good luck.

I took my sons out while he began rolling around a lot and getting between the crib itself and the bumper pad. There particularly replaced into no choose for it relatively because of the fact the full purpose of the situation is so the toddler would not get harm while close to the facets of the crib... nicely as quickly as my son ought to roll and get close to the facets of the crib I had to take it out because of the fact i did no longer choose him to suffocate or something like that.

I am 15 weeks pregnant and just read that you should try to avoid bumper pads! They are unsafe and can get the baby all tangled up! You wouldn't want her to choke on the crod/strings either! They are long enough to go down her throat! You would rather have her bump into the rail than have anything worse happen! I am not going to place bumper pads on my baby's crib!

When my children were infants it was written in the safety material that the bumper padding should be removed once the child is able to move around a lot. This is because they can get tangled in it.

i don't think your daughter is going to seriously hurt herself by bumping on the sides of the cribs with her head. it is very dangerous for her to be able to get tangled in the bumper and it poses a huge choking hazard. i would remove the bumper pads.

I have a 5 month old son and I am having the same problem. I'm going to leave them on just because he rolls over and bangs his head. Just watch her, I don't thimk chewing on it will hurt anything. My son is doing it too. I also have 2 girls and I didn't take them off until they were somewhere around 9 months.

How old is your daughter? I removed them from my daughter's crib when I lowered it--at about 5 or 6 months (she was sitting up by then). If you are more worried about her chewing on them and getting tangled, then remove them. She should be fine.

I wouldn't worry about her chewing on them, but if she is getting tangled in them, you might want to take them off. She could get seriously hurt. If you are worried about her hitting her head, just line blankets or pillows around the edge at night. It works good for me.

I would leave them on... until you move her into another bed. It'll probably cause more damage if she didn't have them at all. Also, she shouldn't get tangled too easy if you make sure the bumper pads are tied good and tight. And, if they only have one tie, they should be tied at the top, with the bottom tucked between the bed frame and the matress.
