Sigh. Points to you for considering how best to break this to him. Don't have a perfect "right" answer, but do have some suggestions. You tell him:
> Kindly (this isn't the time for judgements, recriminations)
> Quickly (it's not respectful to let him just motor on, assuming you still love him when you don't)
> Calmly (no guarantee he'll stay calm, but you need to).
"I'm sorry - we've both changed since we met, and while I care about you, I don't love you the way you deserve to be loved."
Then follows (usually), the ugly part. You don' t have to sit still for any abuse (if it gets ugly, it's okay at that point to say "I understand why you're upset, but this isn't helping either of us, so I'll go), but he's not likely to be pleased, so don't be surprised.
He can survive this, and so can you - it's kind of like removing an adhesive bandage that's hard to pull off. Hurts for a while, then you heal. Good luck!

The longer you let it go on the more it will hurt when it is over. You just have to explain to him that you are moving in different directions and you just don't feel like you fit together. Tell him that he will always be special to you and that it is important that he finds a person that can give him all the love and affection that he desires.

Well when you break the news to him make sure you TELL HIM IN PERSON. If you dont do it in person it makes you look cowardly. Just give it to him straight and dont beat around the bush. The truth hurts but thats life. Its going to be hard to tell him to his face but hey you gotta do it. Good luck on that one!

Just let him down easy. Sit him down and tell him in a mature adult way to his face. Dont do it in writing or over the phone.

Don't crush him like dirt. Just move on. And when he makes a scene, tell him. With a white lie, that you still like him but this is better for you.

Don't let it continue. You've gotta tell him. I was in the same situation where it was like i was living with my brother! so tell him and move on.
