I hear that when a dog is spaid they hate their owner and their whole attitude changes. Especially if I'm the one taking her to the vet and then picking her up? I just don;t want her to hate me and I dont want her to change but it HAS to be done. We are not planning on breeding her and the dr's say that dogs are 95% less likely to get a mammory tumor if it's done before her first heat.

when i spayed my dog she didn't end up hating me at all. i was nervous that she would associate me with the pain at the vets. infact when i went to pick her up right after surgery, (although she was in extreme pain), she tried to jump right outta the vet techs arms to get to me. and once i had her she was completely calm and affectionate. once i got her home i took care of her and babied her. she seemed greatful for the affection and happy that i "rescued" her from the vet and she got to come home with her mommy! the only problem now is sometimes she acts like she's hurt to get extra attention! lol! good job for spaying ur pet, it is the best thing u could do for her!

Your dog will not hate you. I had my Oreo spayed (the one in the picture), and she was not upset at all. When I came the next day to pick her up from the vet, she was so excited to see me! She jumped on me even though she had a long stitch on her tummy, and I'm sure that it hurt her a little to jump. She still wanted me to know that she was happy to see me. If anything, I was the one in shambles worrying about her while she was there alone. I called every day, sometimes three and four times a day to make sure she was doing okay. Oreo is still the same dog she was before she was spayed. She was also spayed very young, and now she is 5 years old. I don't think she remembers anything. The one draw-back is that her hair on her tummy didn't grow back completely.
Again, your dog wil not hate you. She'll be really excited when you come to pick her up. All she needs is a little extra attention, and more treats!!! I LOVE DOGS!!!!!!!!!

She won't hate you. I think that the only thing they feel for the owner is when they are dropped off at the vet for the procedure they think that they are being abandoned. I have never seen a dog not happy the see their owner when they come to pick them up.She will be fine may gain weight but what woman doesn't with age! She will be uncomfortable for a few days but dogs and cats are very good at handling surgeries. They always eat the next day and are up and moving around a few hours after surgery depending on how fat they are, the fatter they are the longer it takes for the sedative to wear off.

Oh, no.. she won't hate you at all. She would (if she could think that way) thank you for caring enough about her to not make her go through heat cycles and unwanted pregnancies. Not to mention the health problems you're preventing.

She's be sore for a few days. You'll take her back to have her stitches removed and she will live a much longer, HAPPIER life, because you cared enough to have her spayed!!!

You're a good caring dog owner to make sure you do what's best for your dog friend!!

She won't hate you. She'll probably be very glad to see you afterwards when you pick her up. She won't be very comfortable for a few days while she heals so make sure you don't let her jump off of things or be very active. Spaying does not change the dogs personality and your vet is right in telling you it prevents tumors and cancer.

She'll be just fine and you're making the right choice for the health and well-being of your dog.

No, your dog will not hate you, she be uncomfortable for awhile but that is natural. Dogs are just the opposite of people, they forgive and forget. Besides, she/he will have a longer life. I owned 2 black Labs (mother and daughter) the mother gave birth and then she was fixed, she lived to be 15 1/2 her daughter "Tara" was fixed right away, and she is 17 1/2, I am truely Blessed...

No, you're dog won't hate you. That is so silly! The only aspect of your dog that should change are actions associated with persuing a mate. You are very smart for making the decision to have your doggie spayed. It also adds 2 years (on average) to her life!

That cancer risk is real. Just bring a special food treat when you pick her up. Keep her safe and warm when you bring her home. I've never had a dog upset with me after the procedure. The dogs don't usually like the vet too well though.

They don't understand spaying is an operation. All they know is they went to the vet, fell asleep, and woke up with sitches. I think you'd be hated more if you didn't spay her and she had to deal with an unwanted pregnancy or the annoyances of heat cycles.
