i'll be there for 4 or 5 days just for christmas and to visit because i've never been.

where should i stay to be close to everything? i actually dont know what "everything" is but i'm hoping to get some tips here :) Oh, and i'm not rich, keep that in mind if ur making a suggestion ;)

No dont stay in a hotel in MANHATTEN those hotel are way too expensive. But still go sight seeing and stuff go to the bronx zoo, museum of natural history and the planetarium, statue of liberty,check out times square and see the christmas tree in rockafella center. Oh yeah to get to the bronx zoo take the 2 train to pelham parkaway theres a lot of signs that point to where it is.

stay and Manhatten!
stay at The Pierre or The Plaza
1. go to the top of the Empire State Building
2. visit Ground Zero*****
3. window shop down 5th avenue and Madison Avenue*****
4. take a carraige ride around Central Park*****
5. drink a warm drink and watch the ice-skaters at Rockefeller Center*****
6. take a cab ride at night through the city especially at Time Square- the lights are great*****
7. go see a couple of plays especially musicals*****
8. purchase tickets to Regis and Kelly, The View, and/or The David Letterman Show*****
9. visit The Statue of Liberty if you have the time-takes 1/2 day-will be cold
10. take the U.N. Tour if you have the time-1/2 day
11. visit Macy's
12. visit Jewelry Row
13. take a cab ride through the Bowery and The Bowery
14. visit Little Italy especially eat at some of the Pastry Shops on Mulberry Street-there is a street which has many Italian Bakery's-Ferrara's is the most famous*****
15. take a cab ride through China Town
16. visit ST. Patricks Cathedral*****
17. go to a Knicks basketball game or a Rangers hockey game at Madison Square Garden
18. definitely purchase tickets for the Christmas Show at Carnegie Hall*****
19. take the Wall Street Tour-take1/2 day
20. if you run out of things to do take the Boat Tour around Manhatten-takes most of the day- will be cold-boring-don't do it unless you are bored

restaurants that don't take reservations- inexpensive to moderate
1. Carmine's-Italian- not sure about reservations-I don't think so-very busy-could be a wait

6. Ray's Famous Pizza- pizza


1. dress warm for it will be very cold
2. wear comfortable shoes
3. purchase any type ticket at least one month in advance-soon as possible
4. make reservations for your restaurant selections at least three to four weeks in advance-also, check the dress code and the average price per person
5. if you are on a budget watch out for the cocktail and wine prices
6. do not walk any streets at night
7. do not walk in the Bowery, Harlem, and Time Square
8. when leaving a play, a show, a game, or a restaurant stay close to the front of the building in catching a cab
9. do not walk through Central Park
10. ask your hotel Concierge for help in getting reservations or tickets if you need too but she sure to tip him/her
11. do not give the Bag Ladies any money
12. don't buy anything from the street that is a sell and move situation-you will get taken!
13. think about renting a limo for a day or night to see the city or go places
14. do not tell the cab drivers you are new to the city-they will take you the long way around
15. when you are picking up your luggage ask one the porters what is the fastest way to your hotel. the cab driver will ask you then he will think you are knowledegable to the city. some take big time advantage!

I'm assuming that you mean NYC, with that in mind.... I'd defiantly do Broadway, if for nothing else that to say you did. there are cheaper shows to see, just go in the morning to an off show. also try to see a game, that's also a must do. try a hot dog, they're awesome from street vendors, but the best are Grey's papaya's if you wind up there get some juice as well! and try to get the stuff like the statue of liberty and the bridge under your belt too.

The Sheraton in midtown is nice and not too expensive.
You'll be close to the TKTS window to get some Broadway show tickets. You'll also be close to Central Park and a short ride to the museums, Macy's, Rockefeller Center.

It'll be a longer ride to the Statue of Liberty ferry, and Wall Street.

okay!!!!!!

If you have money to spend you could stay on 34Th street.
but you could do research on The village Downtown Manhattan
it really cool place to stay or visit.
you could fine hotels really cheap in Downtown Manhattan
or you could stay around 96 st where hotel are cheap and nice

I live nyc for 20 year
have question on getting around or bus or train
