Why on earth!? To save yourself a bit of money? Is it worth risking a serious injury for?
DIY's are never a good idea no matter how much you think you know. If you're not a trained professional go see someone who is and pay the money to have it done right!
No wonder so many people are against tattoos. It's the foolish ones who try and do it themselves that give the art a bad rep.
If you do decide to do this yourself please do not come on here asking how to fix it if you mess up. Actually no, you probably won't be on here asking 'cause you'll most likely be in the hospital.
I'm sorry if this is coming off as harsh but it's the truth and you need to hear it.

There is no best way.
Home done tattoos are NEVER a wise idea. Unless you are a trained and skilled professional, don't even begin to think you are capable of doing this and not seeing a number of issues.
As someone who works in a tattoo shop, I can tell you that I've seen some f'ed up tattoos that kids did at home, same goes for piercing. Even the highly skilled artist I work with had a hard time tattooing himself.
My advice to you is pay someone to do it the right way, you'll be a lot happier about it.

Henna lasts like a few weeks. And is applied topically, not injected. Also, i think india ink is only used for fountain pens and ink wells... I mean, i could be wrong, it could be the same stuff... but if im not, it's probably a stupid idea to try and use that for a tattoo.

i have a homemade tattoo you take a needle and wrap thread tightly around it,a thick layer of thread and it is best to draw the outline first and
have someone else do it for you you will have to go over it sevral times if you want it shaded it will hurt very bad and when you are done it will feel like someone branded you with a cow brander like a burn it does not give you blood poisoning if you use only indian ink and dont go to deep.

I think that the only way to get a tattoo done is by a professional. Doing it yourself opens you up for infection and possible complications that can be avoided.

Are you talking about henna?
You can find books at all sorts of craft stores that help you with patterns and stuff.
If you talking about permenant tattoos, get it done professionally!! You don't want to risk serious injury for a tattoo!

draw the tattoo you want with a wax pencil. spread a little bit of ink over a small portion of the picture and use a needle to slowly retrace the wax outline. you don't want the needle or pin to go in too far, you could get sick if you get too much ink into your blood. once you are done, cover the area with plastic wrap for a day or so, then remove the plastic and apply antibiotic once a day until the redness goes away.
i would suggest having someone help you as this IS a painful process and as you get further along it gets hard to keep your hands steady.
