ok in all seriousness, the reason dogs do that is because before they were domesticated, covering up your scent was a way to hide your presence from other predators or prey... bruce lee???

I would have to agree with the people who said that they're spreading their scent. My dog does it after he poops, after he pees and even after he lifts his leg to mark but nothing comes out.

thats the appropriate comparable subject to my dogs, ive had him for over 4 years now and he nevertheless does it. while hes kicking his returned legs it skill that hes complete marking his teritory and the different with being loopy, permit him out with the different dogs and he will at last provide up

Some dogs have a gene called the "Bruce Lee" gene that makes them kick like that.
Some just like to wipe their feet.
And some are former Rockettes.

thats a boy thing and not all do it. my collie didnt till my sheltie came home and taught that to him. you can train them out of it basically by yelling at them every time they do it.
