Whats the best way to do it. I saw powder that you put on the back of their neck toady in Morrisons, but I can't believe that it would really work, yet it would be so much easier than giving tablets.

pills are a nightmare - the cats know, hold them in their mouths for up to 30 minutes then spit them out when your back is turned after already shredding your arms in the process of getting the thing in in the first place.

liquids or crushed pills in food does NOT work - the cat knows and refuses to eat - or like mine eats everything except the bits of pill or the 5 bits of meat I spent 20 minutes carefully hiding the 5 bits of pill inside of.

injections are costly and I just hate watching puss being stuck like a pig (and the yowling is deafening.)

liquid form is good - put some in a syringe and squirt straight down their throat - some scratches are likely bur she won't spit it out!

some flea preparations that you drop onto the neck also kill some worms - stronghold is one that kills all but tape worms, but if she doesnt get fleas etc they are the carriers of tapeworms so you should not have to worry.

the choice is yours - I use stronghold (only available from a vet) - my cat doesnt get fleas, mites, ticks or any sort of worm. (and I don't suffer for it.)

Cats should be wormed 4 times a year to kill roundworms and tapeworms, which can cause weight loss and digestive problems in your animal, and have the risk of being transferred to children. The most effective wormers are bought from your vet, products bought in a pet shop or supermarket are not as strong (which is why you can get them without being seen by a vet), and also you quite often have complicated instructions for using them.

Products available for vets include tablets, granules, pastes and spot-on treatments. If you have difficulties getting your cat to take a tablet, ask your vet or vet nurse to administer it for you. Granules are easy to put into food, although if you have more than one cat you'll need to feed them separately on that one occasion. Pastes can be squirted straight into your cats mouth. The spot-on wormer is a fairly new product, it kills both roundworms and tapeworms and is used in the same way as veterinary flea spot-ons. the spot-ons are a little more expensive than tablets (around £5-6 where I'm from compared to £3-4 for a tablet), but well worthwhile to save your fingers!

I've never seen a powder to get rid of worms. Flea powder, yes, but if they have worms, they'd need medication.

For me, tablets are a lot easier to give than liquid, but everyone's favorite way is different. A pill can be crushed up into their food, and the liquid can be mixed into their food also. But they'll need the medication to get rid of the worms so however you can get it into them so long as they get it.

The vet can show you how to give both meds.

Worming syrups good althoughh you need to make sure youve got a good hold of the cats head or theyll wriggle out of it... the one i got is chocolate flavour, and it comes out in exactly the right amount. At least you know that if you give your cat the wormer this way then its gone down! Unlike if you put it in their food, some cats dont like the taste. If i can get it down my 10 week old kitten then anyone can do it!

To get a really effective wormer for your cat you need to be getting it from a vets or an animal pharmaceutical company. You can get liquids that you put on the skin for worming, farmers sometimes use it for cattle, but it's an expensive method. You're better using a liquid or tablet for a cat.

Don't use OTC dewormers. They are a major waste of money and they also can cause your cat to become very ill. In order to get the proper dewormer you need to take a stool sample in to the vet and have a fecal test done to determine what type(s) worms are present and then the vet will give you the proper medication.

Just crush the tablets up in the cat food, we give our cat a bit of tuna mixed with the tablet to make sure he eats it.

I use the liquid and mix it with broth. When I give the tablets for tape worm twice a year it is just a bad scene. I coat them with butter and wear leather gloves. Good luck

You can get a vial of liquid to squeeze on the back of the neck from the vet I find this is the easiest,

no it doesn't the best thing you can do is go to your vet and let the vet either give her a worm pill(either droncit or drontal they are the best) or a shot since it is easier.

it is hard to pill a cat i usually get bit every time i have to do it and by my own cats to!
