i believe sydney is a more expensive place to live. but more oppurtunities are available in sydney. melbourne is a chic city, and is renowned for being always able to do something, and the people are exciting. better course is at sydney, but also consider how far away will be from where you live now, to go visit family and friends etc.
good luck and hope all goes well

Hi!
If I was to choose, I would go for Sydney, but that's probably because I've lived there for a year...
Sydney is great and I would do anything to go back there. Sydney is a city, a big one, but yet not that big...... the city center is pretty Small. Sydney has a lot to offer. a lot of beaches, warm weather, nice people and beautiful nature.
Sydney's' got it all......

Melbourne is not like a town. Melbourne is cheaper than Sydney, it has better restaurants and cafe's and if you are into sports, then Melbourne is the place to be. Melbourne is a gorgeous place to live and experience, you should give it a go!

Melbourne is an "old money city", older areas very european in architecture. Very arty, & cultural. Can have all seasons in a day due to being close to Bass Straight ( one of the most changeable & hostile waterways in the world). Also close to snow ski areas in winter. Close to world class surfing areas Bells Beach, Torquay. Big cafe set, multicultural population.
Sydney is a new money city, much of the city has close access to water either beautiful harbour or surfing beaches. Business centre of Australia, bold & brash. Expensive living... rents etc.
