Unless you have a top notch spec PC I wouldn't even bother trying it. It requires 512MB RAM just to run the operating system, that's not including all the applications you run on the computer.

In making this OS, Microsoft hasn't considered the spec of a normal pc, and the price it'll cost the public to get a PC capable of running Vista. Its going to be a complete flop.

XP was built to be accessible to everyone and to be compatible with everything. In making Vista, they've done the exact opposite.

You can download a test from DELL that will see if you're PC will handle Vista and what you can do to make your PC compatible. Remember tho it will only test to see if you have the MINIMUM requirements - for a complete and smooth usage, you're pc will have to be top notch

It is still a beta test version. The proper one isn't due for release until January 2007, and we all know what Microsoft have been like in the past for release dates.

Even though releasing another bug-ridden OS isn't now an available option, even for Microsoft, personally I will wait for Service Pack 1 to be released - unless the reviews are very good, of course ...

If you're not a techie, you need to be careful, as it's still a BETA. Apart from any bugs within the new OS, you can expect plenty of bugs within software packages you're currently running on XP - Vista versions of many of non MicroSoft programs may not be available yet, meaning they may not run correctly or at all under Vista.
