None Alcoholic Ginger wine essence;
5 drams essence of ginger**
3 drams capsicum**
1ounce burnt sugar**
3/4 ounce tartaric acid **
21/2 pounds granulated sugar
10 pints boiled water
The Pharmacy used to supply the ingredients**
But some outlets supply this ready mixed
Method ;
approx 6 lit re bottles
cleaned and dried in oven
pretty Christmas labels (optional)
in a large pan
warm the water and sugar gently, till dissolved
bring to boil and take off heat
stir in all other ingredients
allow to cool slightly
fill bottles with a funnel
seal well & label + date .
serve diluted to taste
keeps well , a favorite at Christmas

I don't think you can order this on line but if you find out your nearest Co op you could ring them and see if they would be willing to send you some. They do have a web site but I'm not sure of the exact addy. Try Google.

I'll watch for your answers. I used to love that at New Year! No-one seems to have it now! The co-op closed down here a few years ago and that was the only place i ever seen it!

im not sure about the coop but you can get it from any chemist. I bought some last year.
