Cracking your knuckles will make them bigger?

Well kind of...... By cracking your knuckles, what you are doing is pushing the joint beyond its physiological stop sign, or further than its range of motion would normally allow for. This puts undue stress on the ligaments and tendons that hold the joint together and in place. Ligaments behave a little like rubber bands---you can pull and stretch them a lot; but, eventually they won't return to their original shape and length.

Don't listen to what people tell you, cracking your knuckles will NOT hurt you and will not cause arthritis. I have discussed this with my personal physician and my chiropractor. When you are "cracking" your knuckles all you are doing is releasing air inside your joints, which can actually be a good thing (ever notice if you hands get stiff & sore and then you crack them and you feel some relief??) Your problem seems to be that you are doing it WAAAYYY too much. THAT can be a problem (as you have said it already is) As far as creams go, I don't believe there is anything out there like that that can help. Stop doing it so often, take ibuprofen & use ice compress, doing both reduces swelling and inflammation.

Cracking your knuckles is a habit just like biting your nails. There is nothing to use to make your knuckles smaller

STOP! Stop doing it and they might go back to normal.
If you continue you will cause damage to the cartilage and cause long-term joint problems.
If you stop and they're still swollen after a week or two go to the docs and get them checked out.
Creams won't help but you could try massaging them with a normal hand cream.
