I am a professional chef of 42 years. I don't profess to know it all, nor do I care for that attitude! :o)
Chocolate mousse is traditionally served with fresh berries of any kind.... black berries, raspberries, lingon berries are my favorites because of the nice color contrast when tossed together. Strawberries are good, very good when truly ripe, but a bit humdrum. Please, PLEASE, avoid citrus, it just doesn't work well on the palate when mixing acidic with chocolate. Ask any kid, any age, chocolate and banana is great together, but like apples, banana tends to oxidize quickly and the dark color of banana or apple doesn't look good on any plate. Bon appetite!

Raspberries are the best.
Strawberries are OK, but very typical and in truth not really a strong enough flavour to stand up to really good chocolate.
Fresh cherries would be great, or bananas (if you like them - I don't)
Pears are also really nice with chocolate.

Dare to be idifferent! EVERYONE does fresh fruit.

How about serving it with pretzels? Or different kinds of chocolate? Or vanilla yogurt? Maybe mint jelly candy? Even a big bowl of marshmallows! Coconut, nuts, and raisins? Ice cream? Cookies?
