Why do you feel like so much emphasis is being put on Mexicans as opposed to other immigrants? Isn't the US supposed to be about the whole melting pot? I understand that if they are here illegally then there should be some regulations, but if thery are working and adding to the US economy how is that a bad thing? I just believe that each and every case is different. Do you know an immigrant that is going through a difficult time? How do you support them through it?

Patriot, This seemed to be a pretty closed ended question but thanks for your advice and reporting me???? Everyone has made a good point. The immigrant I speak of IS here legally, she has a work sponsored Visa, but I just know since the issues with Mexico have come up ( and she is not Mexican) it seems that her case is getting pushed further and further back. Not to mention all the negative light that this debate has shed on all immigrants. I just waned to get answers from people who had similiar expereinces with legal immigrants ( however legal they are) that were having problems due to this debate.

No one is blaming one race of people for the illegal alien invasion.
The term illegal alien is not a Race!
America is a melting pot of LEGAL immigrants and U.S. natural born citizens!
There are rule and regulation and laws against illegal aliens but the illegal aliens break the laws then hides to keep from being apprehended and deported.
The illegal aliens contribute to the economy but in a NEGATIVE way!
They contribute to a declining economy.
They Contribute to lowering of our education.
They also contribute to increasing lawlessness and declining social culture.
They contribute to closing of hospitals and breaking the budget on social services.
They contribute to bringing third world diseases into the country along with drugs and slave labor.
In fact if there is anything negative in an immigrant population the illegal aliens excel at it.
The only way any American should support an illegal alien is to report them and pay for their deportation and be done with them! To do anything else would be UN-American!
ICE has a 24-hour hot line for citizens to report any suspicious activity.
That number is (866) 347-2423

There's a difference in Mexican immigrants and all the immigrants that came before them. Their goals. They are not here for the opportunity to better their lives, they are here to exploit whatever they can get their hands on. They don't even like Americans. They like the free money on welfare, the no brainer jobs that pay under the table, and the free education their kids are getting from the taxpayers(you and me). If they cared so much about this country, they would learn the language, respect more than just their own people and not break the laws to get what they want. Respect goes both ways. Notice that most of this anger and hate towards illegals started when they protested and demanded more rights. What do they expect Americans to do. They don't want to be legal because then they have to pay taxes and they can't live for free like they do now.

The emphasis is being put on ALL illegal immigrants. Mexicans are seemed to singled out because most of the illegal immigrants in the USA are Mexicans. So that is why, obviously, Mexicans are at the forefront in the protests because they will be hurt the most if something radical is done such posting a 700-mile fence along the US-Mexican border.
You are right about the illegal immigrants working and contributing to our local economy. BUT the contribution is very small. The majority of the income...for almost ALL of the immigrants (not just Mexicans)..are remittances back to their families in their homeland.
The contribution here is unaviodable because they DO have to live here, rent a place, buy a car, buy food to eat, and get some clothes and all of this has to be done locally. But what about things like paying taxes. They use the roads, they use public schools to their full extent, getting free meals, and are protected by our laws for which we have to pay millions every year to the governing bodies to make and enforce. They are protected our military and our police but they never pay for it.
Don't get me wrong. I am not anti-immigrant or any such thing. Everybody has a right to the "American Dream". I myself am a first generation immigrant. I know EXACTLY how difficult of a time an immigrant goes through.
Now please explain this to me that how in the world could it possibly be fair that I had to wait for 10 years because I was even granted an interview to be even CONSIDERED for a residential visa in the USA and all that a Mexican has to do is literally hop the border or all that a Cuban has to do is jump on a boat.

If you kill an old person by accident and another person kills a young person by accident should you or that person get a lighter penalty? Point is a crime is a crime and I feel that every crime should be punished the same so as to persuade people to follow the laws. If you and another person are taking a test and both you and that person get the highest score do you think it is fair that you studied all night and day for it and the other person just cheated to pass? Point here is that yes the U.S. is a melting pot of cultures and some people are here for the right reasons legally or not but then there are scum that gets here to not elevate themselves but to bring problems into this already problematic society. I could go on and on about this I've seen both sides of the fences point of view and let me put it like this I come from a Mexican culture and lineage but first and foremost I an an American.

Because they have insulted us beyond belief, that's why.
Most of the money they make here in the US is sent back home to Mexico. They keep just enough to pay their part of the rent, in a place that's usually home to 3+ different families.
Yes, I know an immigrant (who YOU may consider to be going through a difficult time) but the truth is, he makes good money in the carpet laying business (gets paid under the table...approx. $1000/week) but his money goes back to Mexico via Western Union, every single payday! They are taught that. They are taught to support their parents who still reside in Mexico. I'm sorry, but that's the TRUTH.
To the penguin in the sombrero (down there)......don't you worry how many friends I have on my 360. This is my back-up account I'm using. My real one is resting at the moment.

Well for one thing
I know myself and many other people don't care if immigrants come into the country, it's when they do it illegally that really bugs us. Here we are, paying for some pregnant lard with her other twelve kids, and her excuse is that her kids were born in the US, so they're US citizens and she needs to skip past everybody else who was waiting in line so she can go get knocked up some more. I think not. One of my best friends is an immigrant, but she came to America legally, so that is the difference.

There is a big difference between legal and illegal immigrants.
And since the vast majority of illegal immigrants in the United States are Mexican, the focus is on them. Illegal immigration is a problem for many reasons: it depresses wages, poses a serious national security risk, undermines the sovereignty of the US, depletes social service resources, and overburdens schools. In addition, many illegal immigrants commit crimes against US citizens. (In fact, it is estimated that 1/3 of the federal prison population consists of illegal immigrants.)

Poor immigrants are limited because they will never pay enough taxes to cover education for their children, health care or other services poor people use.
We are the good guys. WE subsidize our own poor to give them those opportunities, but it is money out of our pockets, and money taken from our own children's education.
It is not ok for them to come here illegally and steal a better life by stealing education from our children.
--edit
Oh, LEGAL immigrants...
That is totally different.
What makes you think there is spill over?
I have nothing whatsoever against those legally here.

It's numbers, the highest numbers of illegal immigrants are from Mexico. And what we do not care for are illegal immigrants. And a lot of Americans are asking, why can't Mexico take care of its own ?
