if you want something extremely bright you can go to sally's beauty supply and get a semipermanent color the brand is manic panic they have super bright reds and some of them are pink based so they wont fade orange, however they will rinse out over time but not all the way. you will have alot of upkeep with this product but no damage. manic panic is a vegitable based stain.

If that's too far out for you, look for some cool based reds(at Sally's) each bottle of color lists the tone of the color(base).

you can try these things at home but you run the risk of getting the wrong color over and over again or possibly damaging your hair if you use permanent color.best to go to a good salon.

do it in stages. dye it a little redder, then really red. Use a shampoo made for red hair too. My friend used some on her blonde hair and it turned it a light pink.

To be honest, it will be difficult. Red is a difficult color to remove from hair in general and achieving the right type of blond by bleaching at home is super hard. You would probably be better off going to a stylist.

if your hair is light blonde it should pick up darker dyes well.
if you want you can have a professional due it, no mess no stress.
or get a box compare the colors on the side of the box to your hair, because it shows a color match. and then decide which shade you want.

I would have to say to go to your local beauty store and ask them. They have been very helpful to me and I did the opposite, went from dark brown to light red...

How? You go to a professional at a salon and ask them to do it, since they went to school to learn exactly how to do just what you are asking.
