My wife and I have had DirectTV for four years and just switched to Dish. Although she lost some channels she wanted in the change-over, the picture comes in much more clear than DirectTV had it.
Perhaps the DirectTV fellow installed the dish too low on my pole to catch the exact azimuth needed, but the Dish installer placed his dish higher on the pole, and as a result, the signal seems much stronger.
There may not be much difference between the two options, so go with the more economical pitch and the amount of channels you will receive.
The above comment reminded me that we can now get all the local stations whereas with DirectTV we never could. I've now lost my antenna that is no longer required.

Hi,
DISH is definitely worth it! The packages start from $19.99 monthly only and the picture quality is great.
You might check out http://www.dishnetworkbargains.net - they have some nice promos currently running and their customer service is quite good, that's for me as important as the prices. They have different packages listed on their homepage. As far as I know they also offer internet services should you need it. Call 'em up and simply ask what you need to know, doesn't cost anything except a few minutes of your time.
Best wishes
Mike

We have had both and to be honest they are both about the same. I say you get a slightly better deal with Dish as you get a few more channels for the money and in our area it is the only one that offers locals. But, if I had to pick which I preferred in the end it would be Dish.

I have had Direct TV Satellite for 13 years and I like it. I imagine they are about the same though.
