I think that they are because if a person develops a eating disorder its because he/she is not happy with their body image and wants to lose weight. Also some people develop eating disorder cause they are trying to hid something or doing it because its their way of dealing with grief.
I have a eating disorder and I think it can be caused by depression.

Eating disorders may very well be caused by depression. They have found certain chemicals involve with depression that are also involved with eating disorders. An eating disorder is usually a method of control and people arent really in control with depression. yes it is very possible. do find help though it is in control of you no matter what you may think

Maybe or did the eating disorder come first. They go hand in hand like bread and butter (now they have healthy omega 3 margerine-like spread).

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..

I have had issues with eating disorders and I know for me it was a control issue. I felt that if I cant control anything else I could control my weight.

Partially. Yes. Also can be caused by body dismorphic disorder. A person can literally see themselves in the mirror as fat, even when they become emaciated. It's scary and can lead to death by heart failure.

usually power struggles are at the root of this self destructive issues, the person has ineffective coping skills and responses in an attempt to control his of her world then all that other stuff depression self esteem whatever can be added to the mix
