The key word is your question is decent. I have a decent job, so if someone made $20,000 less than me, you wouldn't be able to call that a decent job, they would probably be paid more if they were on welfare LOL!
To me, a decent job is one that affords you enough to support yourself in whatever your situation is, ie. maybe a single guy could live off of $20,000/year, but a single parent couldn't. So as long as the person is capable of supporting themself and paying their way for the things we want to do together, I see nothing wrong with him earning less. Problems can arise if say, you love to travel, but he can never afford to. Or you like to eat out at a classy restaurant once every week or 2, but he can never afford that.
Remember, jobs come and go, they don't define who you are. You could lose your job tomorrow and have no luck finding one for a few months, would you want his opinion of you to change?
Also, just because someone earns more, doesn't mean they have more money! I know lots of people who earn 3 or 4 times what I earn, but they are drowning in debt trying to afford that fancy condo and Lexus. How financially responsable someone is should be equally as important.

no not effect my opinion of him but I most likely wouldn't date him unless if he was ambious. The only reason why I say that is I want kids and would like to be able to stay home with them....if he's making less than me then that would be impossible. Also, a man should always make more b/c he's the man of the house.

Not at all. He might have a problem with it, but if I know my man is working hard and doing all he can to provide for himself and for us in general, then I'll be happy he just has a job. After a while, it'll be our money and no one will be the wiser.

My boyfriend makes less than me and it doesn't matter one bit. It is all about who he is as a person and how he treats me. As long as he isn't just sitting watching TV all day and expecting me to support him and clean the house it is all fine with me.

Mind? I love it! There's nothing that empowers me more than the knowledge that I, a woman, have become more successful than a man.
