Have you ever seen the movie Dogma? If not; you'd like it.
But my point is this; I think that movie hit the nail on the head when one character posed the question: "What keeps people decent?...Fear."
Tell me that the idea of fire and brimstone, and screaming and torture for all eternity didn't scare the **** out of you when you were too young to recognise it from the tripe that it is.
Catholics(I went to Catholic school- been baptized- whole 9 yards. So I know what I'm talking about) use fear as a motivater. (Much like the Nazi's) "Believe what I believe or you will suffer!" It's a bunch of crap. God is not some vengful diety that wants to "punish" you. He(or she) wants you to live and to learn. Not to "inhibit your actions for fear of some intangable father figure who shakes his finger at you from millions of years ago and says, "Do it...Do it and I'll f*cking spank you!""
(yeah...that's from Dogma)

BUT! In the mean-time I have a joke!!!

This guy goes to Hell right, and it's not at all what he expected. It's all bars and clubs and people just getting drunk and having a grand ol' time.
One night he's out getting loaded and he sees this door at the back of the bar with a big "C" on it. Curious he goes over and opens it. On the other side it's all screaming and crying and people being stabbed with pitchforks by little red demons.
Ol' boy closes the door and waves Satan over, "Hey man, what's with this door? Why's there a "C" on it"
Satan kinda smirked, "Oh that? It's for the Catholics. They wanted it that way."

Yeah, I'm going to hell. Ha! I said it before anyone else got a chance!

i'm Matt btw, utilising my mom's account. right this is what i think: no person merits heaven yet we are saved by Jesus (whether people believe in him or no longer). no depend the quantity of undesirable you have carried out you do no longer deserve hell for an eternity. (God loves you and could no longer enable that take place whether you "choose for" it.) If hell means dying of the soul and not eternal soreness, then you definately would be reborn as a extra effective person, sparkling soul, sparkling slate. do no longer forget that God loves you and has your decrease back ^_o. think of roughly it like this, while us people arise with theories and ideology is it precisely comparable to quickly as we discover out the reality? what is going to take place while we die is going to blow our minds away. somebody very particular loves you, do in no way forget it. wish we get to fulfill in that place. it extremely is one element that i've got those days found out or come to have believe. people who've murdered, raped, stolen, lied, etc are no longer murderers, rapists, thiefs, or liars. we've sinned and carried out issues that are incorrect yet we are babies of God mostly, it extremely is the only type that i think exists. wish that helped which includes your question. i'm catholic, yet I surely have some distinctive ideals as you could discover.

yes, that's why He gives us the chances now, to repent and recognize our sins and ask his forgiveness.

If we don't, then that's the alternative we will face in the end when the day of our judgement comes

I mean if your parents (if you're a kid or teenager) were to tell you do your chores and your homework and then you can have fun, u don't do them and have fun anyway and your grounded.

Simple choice, you can either do as they ask, or pay the consequences. same principle here repent and reap the benefit, don't and reap the consequences.

Salvation is the road only through Him, there is no other way, for we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory.

I will try not to be wacko but the truth is that JESUS/GOD[as you say] will not "let"you burn in Hell. This is something YOU do to YOURSELF. Yes GOD/JESUS/HOLY SPIRIT love you. It is you who dose not love or honor HIM. The Bible says that the knowlege of God is the beginning of wisdom and that the word of GOD is foolishness to the unbeliver. Truth is truth.

HE doesn't let you, YOU do it to yourself after living an entire life denying Him. Every single day all you have to do is make the choice to stand up and say that this is the day that you choose to follow what He wants and not what you want to do. Cause like a Father what He wants is always going to be best.

Actually it's a valid observation. In my opinion, hell is not eternal. we can get out of it because of the love and our spiritual progress. If you accept the fact that Earth or physical plane is actually hell, and karma and reincarnation as a means and ways to evolve spiritually, then hell is not permanent. It is actually a place to train our soul. That's why we got burned and honed to perfection. In time, we can feel the love that's waiting for us for so long that we failed to see because of our karmic fate.

It's sooo funny. It's just like the wife beater who says, "I told you you were gonna get it; you pushed my buttons. You chose it." Or the abusive parent: "Why did you make me do that?" Yes, every loving parent damns their own disobedient child to a burning eternal fire, don't they? If laws should truly reflect the Bible, we would be allowed to kill our children out of "tough love" or sacrifice to God. I just love the selective applications of the Bible.

That is exacly what the Roman Catholic church would have you believe!
Along with numerous evangelicals.
However, do not assume for a second that those churches represent the Bible.
There is a big difference between Christianity and Christendom.

It is not really that they will let you, but if you deserve it; it will happen. Yes, God loves everyone, but here on earth, we are given choices. It is up to us to make the right ones, so that we can be rewarded in the end.
